Our mission is to build a legacy of philanthropy by attracting and prudently managing endowed gifts in order to match donor interests with community needs of the area.

We exist to make philanthropic giving in San Angelo and the surrounding area easier and efficient.

 

History

The San Angelo Area Foundation was established in 2002 by a $1 million dollar grant from the San Angelo Health Foundation. While the Health Foundation is a private foundation, the San Angelo Area Foundation is a community foundation whose mission is to improve quality of life in the San Angelo area by assisting philanthropic individuals aggregate funds to benefit the area.

The Foundation has received more than $286 million in contributions since inception and have created more than 445 funds. Over $150 millon has been awarded in grants and the Foundation has over $200 million in assets, all supporting a wide array of causes in San Angelo and the surrounding area.

Permanence

Most funds are created as an endowment at the San Angelo Area Foundation. Since the earnings are used in grant making, individual funds continue to grow while grants made from annual earnings support a wide variety of programs in the San Angelo area, forever!

 

Size Advantage

Advantages of size will allow the SAAF to maximize investment opportunities while keeping management costs lower than if a person were to purchase these types of services individually, thus allowing more money to go to meaningful grants.

 

Leadership

Strong Board Leadership, professional management, and the unique mission of the Foundation will allow donors to meet their philanthropic needs while insuring proper administration of funds while keeping a long-term perspective will nurture the overall good of the entire community.

 

Awareness

The San Angelo Area Foundation is a 501(c)3 publicly supported charitable organization, which is an independent community foundation governed by a local Board of Directors.
