Unrestricted Funds of the Foundation are established to provide the board of directors the opportunity to make descretionary grants based upon current pressing needs of the area.
The Foundation Unrestricted Endowment Fund
Endowed fund created by the San Angelo Health Foundation to assist the San Angelo Area Foundation with its initial unrestricted grant-making program. The fund has awarded more than $780,000 in grants since inception. Other donors have added to this fund to support the discretionary grant making efforts of the Foundation.
Joyce Beckhusen Unrestricted Endowment Fund
Endowed fund created by the estate of the late Joyce L. Beckhusen of San Angelo to provide grants to area non-profit organizations. Ms. Beckhusen, born in Rowena, retired after more than 35 years as an engineer with GTE (now Verizon). She supported her church, Trinity Lutheran, and sought to benefit the many charitable needs of our area.
Max Hulse Endowment Fund
Max was a wonderful philanthropist and supporter of the Foundation and many charitable causes in San Angelo. A gifted artist and musician as well as a successful stock broker, Max always sought to leave the world a better place than he found it. Sadly, Max left our world suddenly in an airplane accident in 2011, doing what he loved. Max created this fund several years ago as a donor advised fund, but provided for the provision to convert the fund status to unrestricted upon his death.
Operations Fund
This fund was created by the San Angelo Health Foundation to assist the San Angelo Area Foundation with its start up operations expenses. This fund has allowed the Foundation to keep its fee expenses schedule affordable. Other donors have added to this fund to support the operations of the Foundation.
J. Willis Johnson Foundation Trust Fund
Named for a pioneer family of the Concho Valley, fund originally started by the grandmother of J. Willis Johnson III, it supports grant making programs of the Foundation.
Wayne and JoAnn Moore Charitable Endowment Fund
Created by the Wayne and Jo Ann Moore Family Foundation in Midland, to create and build more un-resitricted dollars to the San Angelo Area Foundation's descretionary grant-making.
Ellen Meredith Fund
Created by the estate of Ellen Meredith of San Angelo to provide support of the Foundation's descretionary grant making programs.
